Water Attracts Birds
Water features such as birdbaths, fountains or small ponds bring migrants down out of the trees so you can enjoy them. Birds bathing and drinking are fascinating to watch. Birds are especially attracted to dripping water.
If predators visit your yard, consider locating a water feature near a dense shrub that birds can fly into if a hawk shows up - but if your yard is not fenced, be sure the shrub is not so close to the water that it can hide a cat.
