Audubon Great Lakes, the Forest Preserves of Cook County, and partners at the Great Lakes Commission, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently completed a significant restoration project at Powderhorn Lake Forest Preserve last year, restoring more than 100 acres of wetlands and reconnecting Powderhorn Lake to Wolf Lake, creating improved habitats for birds, fish and other wildlife to thrive.

Join Audubon Great Lakes Senior Associate, Stewardship, Kayla Lindsay Fisher, for a morning site tour and bird walk at Powderhorn Lake Forest Preserve. Learn about the innovative restoration work being done at Powderhorn while searching for your favorite neighborhood birds!

Powderhorn Lake Preserve is the most biodiverse area in the city of Chicago, and its an important stopover site for migratory birds to rest and refuel as they journey south to their wintering grounds. Possible sightings could include the American Kestrel, Northern Shoveler, Ruddy Duck, Sora, Wilson's Snipe, Green Heron, Hermit Thrush, Fox Sparrow and more!

Please bring water, your own binoculars if you have them, and wear a long-sleeved shirt and pants.
