Kristin Murphy

Government Affairs Associate

Kristin Murphy is the Government Affairs Associate for Audubon Great Lakes based in Chicago, IL. Murphy joined Audubon in 2019 and focuses efforts to support the implementation of strategies that advance Audubon’s state and federal conservation policy agenda across the Great Lakes region. Murphy works to promote legislative campaigns and engagement advocacy strategies surrounding climate change, coasts, water, working lands and bedrock environmental laws to protect birds and places they need. She also serves as a member for Audubon’s People of Color Affinity Group.  

Prior to Audubon Great Lakes, Murphy worked in Washington D.C. as the Campaign Coordinator for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Coalition, providing support to the national conservation campaign that led to LWCF being permanently reauthorized and fully funded as part of the Great American Outdoors Act in 2020. Murphy is a Board Member for the Partnership for the National Trail Systems and volunteers to foster dogs through a local rescue. She holds a Master of Environmental Management with a focus on Environmental Economics and Policy from Duke University, and a Bachelor of Science in Earth Systems, the Environment, and Society from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
