Ivonne Chavez is a Wild Indigo Nature Explorations Coordinator (Chicago) for Audubon Great Lakes. Her work is across the Chicago region, developing plans and curriculum that will help increase awareness of birds, local ecology, natural areas, stewardship, and global community science projects. Ivonne likes to use art as a method to connect science and nature. She is a former Education Intern (Teens Program) from the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. She is also a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) Alumni who earned her NOLS Outdoor Educator Certification Training with Wilderness First Aid Certification back in 2014. Ivonne is currently a student at Richard J. Daley College, studying Environmental Science and Botany. She started doing restoration and conservation in 2011 and worked across Cook County with organizations like Friends of the Forest Preserve, Student Conservation Association, and the Forest Preserves of Cook County.
