Erin Ford

Communications Associate

Erin is the Communications Associate for Audubon Great Lakes. She supports communication efforts and develops high-quality content for Audubon Great Lakes’ communications channels to help raise awareness of conservation, advocacy, and engagement work and Audubon Great Lakes’ mission to protect birds and the places they need across the Great Lakes region.

An expert on Great Lakes birds, Erin previously served as the Conservation Manager of Michigan for Audubon Great Lakes where she oversaw conservation projects to protect bird habitat for vulnerable species like the Black Tern. As Conservation Manager, she also managed community science participation, stewardship engagement and contributed to Audubon’s advocacy efforts in Michigan.

As the MI Birds Program Associate, Erin helped launch MI Birds, a public outreach and education program by Audubon Great Lakes and Michigan Department of Natural Resources that raises awareness of public lands and their importance for birds.

She previously worked as a Staff Biologist with the Institute for Bird Populations coordinating their MAPS/TMAPS bird banding programs before moving to Michigan where she worked with Detroit Audubon as their Research Coordinator. Erin holds a degree in Conservation and Resource Studies from UC Berkeley.
