David Helm

Wild Indigo Coordinator, Columbus

David L. Helm serves as the Wild Indigo Coordinator for the Grange Insurance Audubon Center (GIAC) in Columbus, OH, where he works to build meaningful relationships with communities of color and community-based organizations in Central Ohio. In addition to maintaining creative and lasting partnerships, he is responsible for co-designing and delivering culturally relevant programs and stewardship activities that engage members of local communities of color with the GIAC, and other local nature areas.

David is passionate about advocacy and the health and development of the community. Prior to joining Audubon, David served as a social media intern for Columbus State Community College, Werth PR, and the Columbus Urban League. Most recently, he served as an assistant project manager for Harm Reduction Ohio’s Anti Stigma Project, an anti-overdose initiative stewarded by Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services. 

David holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University. Originally from West Virginia, in his free time David enjoys spending time in local nature preserves with his partner and dog, playing video games, and listening to music.
